Work With Me

Hello! I’m Brandi, follower of Christ, wife to an amazing, supportive husband, blessed mother to four sweet children, and fibromyalgia thriver. I am a Navy veteran living in my native state of South Carolina where I spend my days cherishing the time with my children as well as reading, writing, cooking, baking and just being me.

After six long years of struggling with body aches, joint stiffness, depression, anxiety, severe back spasms, sensory sensitivities and other various ailments, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic pain in December 2012. From that moment, I embarked on my journey to becoming well again and regaining a ‘normal’ life. Of course, at the time I had no idea what was in store for me along the way. My journey included several successes and many failures as a fibromyalgia patient, but it also led to new friendships all over the world and the creation of a blog that would eventually lead me to become the advocate I am today.

Since my diagnosis, I’ve tried physical therapy, psychiatrist visits, medications, numerous doctors, and natural living options to find what works for me and my body. With a combination of determination and a strong support system, I have found the best effective natural treatment remedy plan that works for me. There are still flare days, but for the most part, I’m healing.

It’s been a long and rough road over the last few years, but I’m here and still standing stronger than ever. Through my journey I have learned that living with fibromyalgia and chronic pain does not have to be merely surviving life, but thriving it! It was after this time that I set my sights on becoming a writer and sharing my journey with other fibromyalgia sufferers.

About Being Fibro Mom

Each time I write, I do it in the hopes of helping fibromyalgia sufferers become fibromyalgia thrivers. My mission is to to advocate parents while enduring the hardships of fibromyalgia. I hope to one day help in changing the mantra “you don’t look sick” and replace it with knowledge, understanding, compassion, and healing. Bridging the gap between fibromyalgia thrivers and their loved ones is a personal mission and one that I take seriously.

Being Fibro Mom not only gives you the resources needed to understand fibromyalgia and chronic pain, but also how to cope with those crazy kid days, unexpected flare ups, and unpredictable emotional days.

My Experience and Current Work

The Fibromyalgia Magazine

After creating Being Fibro Mom in 2013, I have reached many goals and accomplished many goals I didn’t realize I had. In addition to writing for various websites, I am a regular contributor to the international magazine The Fibromyalgia Magazine. My articles cover various fibromyalgia aspects with a focus in fibro parenting (parenting with fibromyalgia). Find all my articles here.

Support Fibromyalgia Network

I have the privilege and honor of working closely with other fibromyalgia leaders to form the nonprofit organization, International Support Fibromyalgia Network. As the program director for Families & Fibromyalgia, I am focused on bridging the gap many fibro thrivers experience between themselves and their loved ones. Living with fibromyalgia is difficult, and having a support system is crucial in healing. Together with other fibro thrivers, we are building an effective support network that gives the resources and expertise many fibro thrivers and their loved ones need. Read more about the program.

Fibro Parenting

My closed Facebook group, Fibro Parenting, is focused on any parent or guardian looking for support while parenting with fibromyalgia. Fibro is an intrusive illness that can be complicated enough without the added stress of parenting. Fibro parenting is a creative form of parenting, but does require the support and encouragement from other fibro parents. There are so many of us battling fibro and trying to be the best parent/guardian we can be. Browse all of my fibro parenting articles.

As of November 2016, I am working alongside my husband to create a course that will help parents along the arduous path to success. It will be full of videos, short tutorial lessons, mine and my husband’s less-than-successful parenting mistakes and lessons, and more! Please stay tuned for the release date.

Fibro Live Show

Starting in January 2017, my husband and I launched a series called Fibro Live. The series is a live feed each Friday at noon EST found on the Being Fibro Mom Facebook page. It discusses the latest fibromyalgia topics, news, research, and more. Other fibro bloggers, writers, and advocates join the live sessions and give essential resource from time to time. Browse all the Fibro Live videos on YouTube.

Being Fibro Mom’s Mission

Through my writing, I hope to connect with others living this crazy life with fibromyalgia. My mission is to make fibromyalgia thrivers feel accepted, welcomed, and loved despite how messy and lost fibro can make us feel. My goal is to give men and women personal insight to the different aspects of fibro such as being a fibro parent, unexpected flare ups, and unpredictable emotional days. There are a lot of emotional days.

This mission is accomplished through

  • candid posts about the good and bad days (This isn’t limited to fibro. There is more than me aside from fibro and I will show you that side of crazy.)
  • finding the best products to aid in daily tasks and relieve various symptoms
  • book reviews (Reading is a good way to de-stress and I’m a book worm, so let me help you find some good reads!)
  • writing uplifting and encouraging words for those dark days that chronic illness so easily leaves us

Being Fibro Mom Readers

Readers are usually females, aged 25 years old and older, that live all over the world. The majority of readers live in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Ad space is available for one month, quarterly, and semi-annual. The ad must be family-friendly and not linked to gambling, pyramid schemes, or other undesirable activities. Ad must be approved by Brandi.
  2. Links inserted within articles on the site: If you’d like to link to a set of words in an existing article on the site, that is also available. The link must be family-friendly and not linked to gambling, pyramid schemes, or other undesirable activities. Link must be approved by Brandi.
  3. Place an ad in the monthly Fibromyalgia Thrivers Elite newsletter: The membership newsletter is ran on a monthly basis, but ads are sold in chunks of three months periods. For example, you pay an ad in March, that ad will run for March, April and May for one payment. The ad requirements are square, in color, and can be linked to your site, page, etc of your choice. All ads must be family-friendly.
