This review is The Night Swim by Megan Goldin. One of my favorite ways to rest is by curling up with a good book. Like movies and music, all genres appeal to me, and I give all books a chance to be ‘heard’!

The Night Swim by Megan Goldin was a good thriller about two separate mysteries in a small town on the coast.

Podcaster and journalist, Rachel Krall, is headed to the small town of Neapolis to report on a local trial. Scott Blair, a son of a wealthy businessman, has been accused of raping and sexually assaulting a fellow classmate, Kelly Moore. During the trial, Rachel is contacted by Hannah Stills regarding the death of her sister, Jenny. Jenny was reported to have drowned, but Hannah insists Jenny was murdered.

While sitting through the Scott Blair case and reporting it to the listeners of her podcast, she simultaneously investigates Jenny’s death. The town has many secrets and while these two incidents seem to be unrelated, Rachel has a hunch they are connected. The longer she stays in town, the more truths come to the surface and the more dangerous the place seems to be.

Told through Rachel and Hannah’s perspectives, Megan Goldin’s novel will keep you guessing who did what until the very end. It was a quick read with relatively short chapters. I gave it three out of five stars.

Book of the Month Club

I enjoyed books so much that I joined the Book of the Month Club to continue receiving the latest and greatest books via mail. Some of the books are exclusive to BOTM club members a month prior to their official publishing date! Each month I’m excited about the monthly selections, and it’s tough to select just one. (And when I can’t decide on one, I can add additional books for a small add-on charge, and – as always – shipping is included in the monthly membership fee.) Can’t find one you want? That’s okay, too! Skip a month, pocket the credit to spend next month, and you won’t be charged for that current month.

Book Ratings and Reviews

Each book I review is based on my opinion. This does not mean you will agree with the review or love/like/dislike the book, too. There’s a quote that says, “No two persons ever read the same book” by Edmund Wilson, and it’s quite true!
